Projects by students, graduates and curators of the HSE Art and Design School have won prizes and received special awards, while the School was selected as the educational institution of the year for the second year in a row. Evgeny Kashirin, lecturer at the HSE Art and Design School, was named tutor of the year.

HSE Researchers Learn to Determine the Level of Happiness of Russians by Posts in Social Networks
Researchers at the HSE Graduate School of Business have created a model for calculating the indicator of subjective well-being, based on the analysis of 7.2 million posts on the Odnoklassniki social network. They found that the lowest level of observed subjective well-being can be registered in the morning, and the highest can be found in the late evening. The results of the study were published in the Mathematics journal.

Faculty of Economic Sciences Holds Webinar for Master’s Applicants
The webinar provided details on two master’s programmes: ‘Economics and Economic Policy’ and ‘Strategic Corporate Finance’. Some international students shared their study experiences, and the faculty administration provided information on admissions, student benefits and scholarships. HSE University to Launch New Carbon Test Site
A new HSE-operated carbon project—the Pokrovsky agricultural carbon test site—will soon be launched in the Moscow, Kaluga and Kirov regions. Its main purpose is to monitor greenhouse gas flows in the respective ecosystems to assess their carbon balance. The project is expected to produce the first Russian prototype of a comprehensive monitoring framework for ecosystems in agroforestry-based carbon farming.

HSE University to Attract More Students from African Countries
The number of HSE students from Africa has exceeded 200 this year. Today, 235 students from 31 African countries study at the university. Last year, 175 students from 29 countries studied at HSE University.

HSE University and TIIAME Sign Cooperation Agreement
The agreement between HSE University and the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers is aimed at developing academic and cultural cooperation, including student exchange. The agreement was signed on November 25, on the eve of HSE University’s 30th anniversary. On the same day, representatives of universities and diplomatic missions of Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Iran, Egypt, and Bolivia visited the university.

HSE University Launches New Master’s Programme in Chemistry
In 2023, the first Master's programme 'Chemistry of Molecular Systems and Materials' at the HSE Faculty of Chemistry will enrol students. Half of the study time will be devoted to research projects in the field of modern fundamental and applied research on the topics studied at five institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Dmitrii Roitershtein, Academic Supervisor of the programme and Associate Professor at the Joint Department of Organic Chemistry with the RAS Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry, spoke about the programme to the HSE News Service.
